Gameplay developer, Unity
Full time, East London area.
Playdiation is looking for a talented Gameplay Developer to join its inventive and ambitious games studio in east London. You'll be joining at an influential time in the development of our flagship game and you’ll have an opportunity to help shape our output and direction in significant ways.
You'll work with us on inventing and shaping game mechanics, with a strong emphasis on building satisfying gameplay/gamefeel. You’ll work with us to rapidly prototype gameplay and interactions. The initial target platform is iOS, so you should have mastered the constraints of gaming on smartphones. You should have at least three years experience with Unity working with 3D games.
Core areas of strength we’re looking for are:
- Prototyping, testing and iterating core gameplay loops
- Familiarity with touchscreen input methods and the constraints of designing mobile play in Unity
- Comfortable with designing object interactions and taming Unity's physics
- Character control & input
Capability in the following areas will be useful:
- Some basic 3D modelling skills
- Character behaviours and animation
- Unity shader pipeline knowledge
- Good experience with C# and Git

Playdiation is looking for a remarkable Lead Engineer to join its unique and ambitious games studio in east London. You will be joining at an influential time in the development of our flagship game and at an early and creative moment in our studio’s life.
You will be responsible for solving technical challenges unique to mobile games, including guiding the development from prototypes from early tests to launch; integrating novel technologies from in-house pipeline tools to shader development to animation while maintaining a high level of quality across our technology stack.
Our technology involves lots of novel challenges, from pipeline to editor tools, to optimisation and deployment. We're looking for someone with an extraordinary talent in technical development, with a deep curiosity and appetite for invention. The role involves working closely with a small team (including Nick our technical founder) to develop a workflow and to implement ambitious concepts into an evolving set of tools.
This person should be confident and detail oriented, with strong code discipline. They should know (and care) about asset pipelines, scripting processes and keeping a growing Unity project in good health. Mathematical knowledge would be useful too. All of this without forgetting that we need to make something beautiful and fun!
Useful technical skills would be:
- code discipline
- good knowledge of how to scale a game codebase
- experience with Unity mobile runtime optimisation
- asset and metadata ingest and export
- would know other scripting languages like Python
